In the Grade 7 Mathematics course, students develop an understanding of proportional relationships, operations with rational numbers and work with expressions and linear equations. Furthermore, students solve problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume. Lastly, Students build on their previous work with single data distributions to compare two data distributions and address questions about differences between populations. They begin informal work with random sampling to generate data sets and learn about the importance of representative samples for drawing inferences.Prerequisite: None
This course enables students to develop a better understanding of a wide variety of scientific concepts. Students will analyze various ways humans interact with the environment, and ways to improve environmental impact. Through course work, students will learn about the form and function of a variety of structures and will demonstrate an understanding of energy and how it flows through systems. Earth and Space systems are discussed in the course with a focus on the analysis of heat in the environment alongside energy flow.
